Barn Conversions and Restorations

If you have a pre-existing barn, annex, farm building, external office or outhouse, then we can help you do a conversion or restoration. Each barn conversion is a separate unique project requiring a delicate balance of modernisation whilst still keeping the traditional look and complying to building regulations.

Our restoration work comprises a balance of both cosmetic and structural work. If you choose to hire HCL Masonry, we will take an honest look at your requirements and design a solution that will last for years to come. This can involve creating new walls, moving them, adding doorways, lintels and arches.

Swimming Pools, Orangeries and Conservatories

We have worked both on domestic and commercial (The Grand Hotel in York) to build swimming pools on behalf of clients. Typically, this involves laying blocks inside concrete liners and then handing over to a tiling team.

This type of work requires attention to detail, a high level of accuracy, inlaying of lights and custom work.

We also can work to build your orangery or conservatory project working closely with glaziers and architects.

Garages and Porches

There are many types of garages which can be built and each have their advantages and disadvantages. The cost of your new garage will depend on variables such as:

Types of Garages

  • Standard garages such as single, double and tandem
  • Attached and detached
  • Standard up and over or electrical roller shutter
  • Pitched traditional roof or a flat panelled roof

Although porches are generally very small structures, they can make a big difference to the look of a house and provide for a very useful space giving your hallway or living room a totally different feel. In general, they can classified as either open or screened.

Insurance Work

Living in the Britisle Isle means living with a wide range of conditions which can cause significant damage to brick and stone structures.

This can be as a result of water permeating brickwork which can cause them to crack and mortar to be blown. We would then be hired as part of an insurance claim to help carry out repairs.

Other works we might be asked to do can be classified as follows:

  • Weather damage from flooding, fallen trees and high winds
  • Gas explosions
  • Fire damage
  • Cars running into your home (this does happen!)
  • Repairs to other builders work

Other Activities

Sometimes, you may need a simple job doing which requires a lot of skill. This may be the building of an arch, a repair to a wall, relaying of some flags or paving, installation of a lintel beam, fitting air bricks, building garden walls, constructing gabion walls, repairing foundation bricks and stones, laying foundation blockwork or providing an expert report for your insurers.

We also love working with new cutting-edge technologies for building such as mortarless interlocking bricks, Mega Pool building bricks, Blokit, etc.

Taking the First Steps

The first step to finding out if we at HCL Masonry can help you is to tell us about your project. Provide a brief description of what work you need doing, where you live, your contact details and when you want us to start.
